Our Birthday...

For the most part, our- Mine and Sandbox-...'s birthday was pretty normal, but I let Rake and her best friend cut my hair. It was pretty interesting, and kind of nerve-racking, but it was cool. Rake had only shaved Polio's and Sandbox's hair before, but never really cut hair. Rake's best friend- we'll call her "Ass"- also had only shaved heads, but I kinda trusted her more, since, if it came out looking bad, I couldn't blame her. It went good and it looks not that much different now, because all they did was do my bangs. I wanted them to layer the back, but they never got to it. We got nice presents, and Plug, Rake, and I went to Winners, and a few other stores and went shopping. I got a Star Wars t-shirt, a nice warm plaid jacket, and cool t-shirt that has a bunch of symbols which I don't know what they mean.

A PET NAME...

So, a few nights ago, our family was having dinner at the table as usual, and we kinda got a little hyper. We were making a lot of jokes, when we brought up Sherlock- our cat. (or gato...) We decided to give our cat a middle name. We consulted with each other with many ludicrous ideas, (and Rake and I insisted on it starting with a "J")...when trusty Rake came up with a name that just rang in my ears- Jarbanzo- (pronounced Hhhhar-BON-zo...with a little trill.) And we came up with a few more mediocre alternatives, but eventually agreed that he was now, officially,

Sherlock Jarbonzo _____________!

BAD BUS DRIVERS AND BOWLING...

So, as you know...I'm also in honor choir, and this Saturday was a bowling party to bong with the other choir members and get to know them. And when Dad drove me to the alley, we never considered or had an idea that Canadian bowling would be any different than the "traditional" American way of bowling, but Boy! Were we wrong! Okay, so the bowling pins were very straight and tube-ular shaped. That wasn't a big deal but the fact that they were much lighter and easier to knock over. Also, the bowling balls were slightly noticeably different from the American style balls. They were about the size of shot-puts. They were freakishly light and very easy to roll down the alley if what your used to is a ball that is reasonably bigger and heavier. So naturally I won both of the games we played. That's pretty reasonable- I mean if you're used to hauling a ten-pound ball or heavier to the lane and trying to roll it as fast and powerful as you can down it, than shoving about a 5-pound ball down it to knock over a lot lighter pins is pretty predictable. Anyway, when you have the big ball and you're trying to look fierce while you lob it down the lane, you look very funny when you have this tiny ball while still trying to look concentrated. And they actually have a "lob-line", where you can't throw as high as the line past where it's marked. And you know when you get a gutter ball, you can't really get any pins, but with how light they are, actually often, the ball will roll back on the lane because it's so small and light, and the gutter has a curve so it will get some pins even if you roll a gutter. So that was kind of humorous. On the other hand, with what happened today, things weren't so funny...

Today, Sandbox was sick, and he was going to be staying home for the day, so I go walk to the bus stop and leave the house at about 7:06, and when I get there- well I'm the only one there but this girl which lives next door is right behind me- and so we talk for a little bit until everyone else comes to the stop about a minute or two later. So it's been like 5 minutes and the bus hasn't come yet, we just think he's maybe a little late so we all just talk for a while. We are all FREEZING so we sit down and scrunch up to get warmer. So while we're waiting, and have been for like 20 minutes, a bus comes by...but it's not ours- it's for the elementary kids, and the jerk-driver just smiles and drives by. We are kinda pissed at that point so we say that if he doesn't come in the next 5 minutes, than we'll just go home. We said that a few more times, and guess what? The jerk-driver of the bus that passed us a few minutes ago comes around again, but just smiles and passes us- again! UGH! So, we've been there for about 35 minutes and we are really freezing now- I couldn't feel my whole body, and I could barely move my hands. One of the girls at my stop gets up from the ground and sees that the freezing-and-dew-filled ground got her pants wet right in the crotch! So she's like..."Well, I'm freezing, and I need to go change my pants now, so I'm leaving!" We all are like "yeah, I'm gone!" so we all depart, and we- me and the girl next door- are about 10 feet from our drive-ways when- oh, yeah- the bus pulls up behind us. I'm very hesitant to get on, but I do, and find a seat. I'm there on the bus, trying to de-frost 45-minutes worth of freezing-ness, and we can only pick up about half- as the other half bolted and went home- so just after we get everyone we can, He stops and tells us that somethings wrong with the engine, so that another bus driver was going to come and pull up behind us so we could get on, and she would take us the rest of the way. Major UGH! So after we are all on the next bus, and when we finally get to school.

After the day, we get on the bus home, and we are all talking about what happened in a mellow attitude, trying to be cool. Anyway, we were talking about it and one of the girls from my stop says, "You know...it was actually fun.FREEZING, but fun." I agree, but I wish it wasn't so damn cold! (- 6 degrees Celsius)...Anyway, after such an exhausting day, I come home to a sick Sandbox, and a tired Dad. He tells some big news just in, and I share my story...

Wow! What a day! (I'll let someone else break the news about his exciting new...thing)

I forgot to post a Happy Birthday blog for Polio and Plug! So...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY POLIO AND PLUG!!!!!!

Sunday, November 11, 2007

Sorry that it's been a while- I've been so busy and sick! Well, not really much has happened since I last posted.

My birthday's in two weeks and I'm very excited! That should be fun- and...interesting

So this Friday was "Remembrance Day", and there was a huge ceremony. There was a guest speaker that talked about his experiences with some of the wars he was in. Also, there was a musician from some supposedly famous band called "McGinty" or something. Some of Sandbox`s friends were carrying wreaths, a Canadian flag, and a Nova Scotian flag. They processed into the gymnasium along with some girls who read some poems to the assembly.

This whole ceremony took about an hour and a half. They made us wear these poppy flowers on our left boobs, and It poked my like eight times. It was so annoying!

Anyway- that week was finally over! But I was still hung-up about my presentation for my book report. I was so bad! I really sucked! I could not say "judicial" and I literally spent like a minute trying to pronounce that word right. I never did, so I just decided to move on because it would've taken forever to try and fully say that word.

I've been sick this week, pretty much; and I still kinda am. It sucks because I can never get the gunk out of my sinuses, and I've been freezing all week long because of my cold or whatever it is.

I was really shocked yesterday because it snowed for the first time here, and now it's been snowing since yesterday afternoon. It's like maybe 4 inches, and very white!
Anyway...that's about all that's been happening these past few weeks, but I'll try to post more.

I've just been so busy! Or congested, or whatever! I've been occupied. Any who...

- Easel out!

Aaaaahhhhh! It's the weekend...(that was a good "aaahh", by the way...)

Friday, October 12, 2007

Hey Guys! I'm back! Not from anything, really, but I haven't posted in a while, but any who...I just need to post about something!

I've been sick a titch this week and I've noticed that Muffins do not go with Pickles...and as Plug suggested- I have now decided that that is what I want on my headstone.

I give my sympathy to all who are suffering J and M's loss from this world, but I'm sure they are in a better place- so God bless them! May they rest in peace!!!

I thank you all for listening...

FINE, POLIO!!! I'M POSTING!!!

Okay, well, I don't have a lot to post about...so I'll talk about Canadian Thanksgiving...(I'm making this up on the spot, so- just don't criticize!)

T is for how Thoroughly depressed I will be tomorrow- since I won't be in America to celebrate American Thanksgiving...

H is for How Appetizing though it may be, I will be mourning the soft turkey- 'cause here they eat ham as the tradition instead of turkey...how weird!...

A is for Amusing- how amusing it is that they eat ham instead of turkey...

N is for how Narcotic it will be when I finally plop down on my bed after all that cooking for the Canadian Thanksgiving...

K is for 'K'mon!!! HAM?!?! Seriously! Turkey, okay?!?!

S is for "Sorry, man...all we have is ham..."- that's what the employees at the supermarket say to you when you ask for TURKEY for Canadian Thanksgiving!!!...

and

GIVING is for GIVING - that's when you give people things you think they want- (even though they just say they like your present just to be nice when they actually hate it...)

Oh, that was fun!...
Until next time- Easel!

Terry Fox Run

Today was the "Terry Fox Run" day! Terry Fox was this extremely competitive guy and did all kinds of sports, and he found out he had a kind of cancer and he lost his legs. He still competed in sports, when he heard there was a marathon going on and he decided to enter in it. He completed it in last place with a smile on his face and he decided he wanted to raise money for cancer all over Canada called the "marathon of hope" and he tried to run all across Canada to raise money. He only got as far a Thunder Bay when they found he had lung cancer too, and he had to stop, but he promised he would finish it when he was better, but he never got to. So it's tradition that every year we walk on the Terry Fox Run to help finish his mileage.

So today, was that day, and we walked 10 kilometers and had a barbecue after, so we got to skip some school! It was fun.

When I was halfway through- when I turned around to go back for another 5 k, I ran for the rest of the time. It was killer because I had forgotten my water at home.Major "UGH"! But, so then, I was the only girl who was up at the front. I kept with it, even though it hurt, because I knew it was for a good cause, but by the end, I was so tired! I kept jogging, and jogging, and jogging until we were finally at the end, when it was just me and like 5 9th grade boys left. I was so close to finishing, when this girl comes out of nowhere and just barely passes me up! I was, by now, thoroughly depressed, so I went inside to wipe myself clean of my sweat from the sun, the fact that I had no water, and my own disappointment of my loss to represent America- and girl power. I went outside and got a hot dog, and stretched myself so as to not go stiff. I was wearing my knee brace- the one I use when I play sports, or run a lot. I took that off and when I was done stretching, I got up, and then one of the 9th grade boys that were there running with me, said "Hey, nice run!". I immediately felt better, and went to my french teacher's room. We talked there, and I found out my test scores, and went outside again to talk to my friend.

We had been outside for about 15 minutes before people came back after us, and when everyone had come back, got their hot dogs and whatever, we had about 2 hours to do whatever we wanted. It was fun- I talked to teachers- to replace my lack of friends, and I just mingled around inconspicuously to wait to go home. When we all went inside, we had about a half-hour left, and we went to homeroom to just talk about upcoming things and homework, etc.

When Sandbox and I got off the bus that took us home, I asked- let's call her "Lobby"- the 8th grader next door,to throw a few water balloons at me to cool me off. It worked! I was soaked all down my front and I was officially cooled off. I then, when Dad left to take Sandbox to a doctor's appointment, got on this computer to re-live today as efficiently as I deemed possible.

I take my leave until next time,

What an interesting day!

Okay, this story is from yesterday...

Well, yesterday was interesting. We had school, a normal Tuesday, but it happened to be picture day. ( Actually here they say "piture"), but anyway, I got up at 5:15 like always, and washed my hair. That took about a half-hour. I got dressed and did my hair- but it was only after that that I realized it was picture day. Oh, Gosh! Well, I was too tired to, and I didn't want to pick out another outfit, so I kept on what I had.
I went to school after I finished getting ready, and everything was normal besides the picture taking. Our class's turn to get pictures taken was about 20 minutes before our lunch period. Having my last name start with a "W" didn't really help after all.
By the time they got to me, people had been eating lunch for about 5 minutes already, so I had like 40 people's eyes on me while I got photographed; and being camera shy didn't help that! So when I got to the photographer, I gave him my card and told him I wanted the colour grey for my background.
After like 3 minutes of him telling me how to position myself- (literally), he told me "to keep my back straight, but to lean forward, slightly," which didn't make any sense to me at all! So in my head I was like okay...ugh! I'll try my best... but it was just then when he took a picture of me thinking to myself ...being uncomfortable he took the picture of me portraying exactly that.
So, after that first blinding, he said to "actually smile" this time ...and I just thought well, I don't actually want to be here in the first place, and you could have some manners in telling me when you will take my picture.
So this time, half reading my mind, actually said "1,2, 3" and took the picture, but in a disgruntled under-tone; but luckily, I had just enough time to position myself as best I could within the one second he gave me in advance.
Other than that, school for the rest of the day was all good. After school, though I was to have my first rehearsal for the Halifax Youth Honour Choir, or HYHC.
Now, there was nothing wrong or inconvenient with this experience, it just wasn't what I had expected for that.
(Wow! This is getting long!). Anyway, we did a long variety of songs- a Japanese one, a German song, a French one, a Swing song, an Evening Prayer anthem, and a couple other ones. I basically thought it seemed like it would be fun and a good experience for me to try out- the music's a little different than I am used to, but it seems like I'd have a good time- and hopefully make some friends!
Keeping my hopes up! Faithfully for you,

-Easel!

Life as a Canadian

Well,
As you all know, (or maybe you don't), I just moved to Canada and I miss Illinois like crazy! It's nice here, but it's just not Illinois! I know well enough that we will have a better life here, but I can't help thinking how it would be if we moved back. I know at least I'd more friends...but what's done is done! So I must now return to my sorrowful life as a Canadian...

Adios!

I'm a Newbie!

Okay...
So this is my new blog! Yay for me! Well, now I can write about my life, and other people can read it and comment on it! This isn't really a good post- I'm just announcing that I'm here!
