A PET NAME...
So, a few nights ago, our family was having dinner at the table as usual, and we kinda got a little hyper. We were making a lot of jokes, when we brought up Sherlock- our cat. (or gato...) We decided to give our cat a middle name. We consulted with each other with many ludicrous ideas, (and Rake and I insisted on it starting with a "J")...when trusty Rake came up with a name that just rang in my ears- Jarbanzo- (pronounced Hhhhar-BON-zo...with a little trill.) And we came up with a few more mediocre alternatives, but eventually agreed that he was now, officially,
Sherlock Jarbonzo _____________!

I'm glad you blogged this story. I was just telling Plug on the phone last night that Little Miss had decided that our new cat, Charlie, had to have a middle name that started with J so that she could call him C.J., just like a kid in her class. So he is now Charles Jacob.
everybody loves the chickpeas
Yeah, but Sherlock Chickpea (lastname) didn't quite measure up.We are enjoying calling him Jarbanzo (much more than is warranted as he doesn't really answer to it).
Oh yeah and, Easel, taht red background hurts my eyes. Let's talk about contrast and readability.
This household has also had several discussions lately regarding the complete and full names of the assorted creatures who reside with us. There appears to be disagreement regarding whether one is named Lulubelle or Lulu Belle. Another may have Scout for a last name or maybe for a middle name. I just try to stay out of it all.
Perhaps if you use both names, i.e. Sherlock Jarbonzo, he'll get the hang of it. Of course, that generally denotes displeasure on the part of the speaker, but maybe cats don't know that.
In the case of Beatrice Scout, that dog would happily come to anything one called out if she thought there was a possibility of food attached.
BTW, a gigantic double HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you and Sandbox!
the list of birthdays we have missed just grows and grows...
